Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly consolidated management accounts and onward reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Preparation of statutory reporting
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely maintenance of core accounting records within Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Covenant monitoring and reporting to external finance providers
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Preparation and submission of IOM and UK Corporate Tax returns and ensuring compliance with the latest taxation legislation
  • Support with the ongoing maintenance and further development of a robust financial control environment
  • Identifying and delivering opportunities to automate and streamline the reporting cycle, including the practical use of AI tools, and helping to embed those improvements across the wider finance team
  • Developing and improving reporting out of Business Central and our wider reporting tools, reducing the team's reliance on manual spreadsheets
  • Acting as a finance point of contact for system and data queries, and working with colleagues across the business on process and system change
  • Liaising with external auditors
  • Ad hoc projects
  • Training and mentoring junior members of staff

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of Excel; experience of Power BI or similar reporting tools desirable
  • Experience of Dynamics 365 Business Central would be preferable; experience of a comparable ERP, together with the appetite to get up to speed quickly, will also be considered
  • Open to using AI in day-to-day work and genuinely interested in what it can do for a finance function — hands-on experience of tools such as Claude or Microsoft Copilot is desirable
  • A process improvement mindset: you notice manual, repetitive work and want to fix it rather than work around it
  • Sound judgement on when to lean on a tool and when to check the detail yourself, alongside a healthy respect for data confidentiality and control
  • Willingness to embrace an environment where no two days are the same
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Desire to understand and challenge the detail behind the numbers within the business
  • Attention to detail in a pressured environment is critical
  • Ambition to be a key team member, driving an already successful business to even greater heights

  • Diligent with a focus on accuracy of output and able to work to tight deadlines

  • Experience ofworking within a business with high volumes of transactions would be desirable.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience

  • ACA or ACCA qualified Accountant with 1-3 years post-qualification experience
  • Financial Reporting and/or Management Accounting experience – Desirable
