Annual price change

Each year, we adjust the prices of our products and services in-line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of inflation, plus 3.9% or 5.5% (depending on the date you signed the contract).

To calculate the updated prices, we use the latest CPI “12 month rate” published by the UK government. This rate changes every month, so we use the most recent rate published to the anniversary of your first bill. The increase is then applied on each subsequent anniversary.

In October 2023, the CPI rate was 4.6%. Therefore, customers whose first bill came in December 2023 will see a price increase of 8.5% (4.6% + 3.9%).

8.5%

From January 2025, CPI-linked price increases only apply to contacts with 11 or more services or for customers with multiple contracts that include ten or more services.

Customers affected December 2022

The annual price increase affects customers who signed a new contract or renewed their contract from December 2022 onward. Customers who signed contracts before this date are exempt from the annual price change unless agreed upon in writing with plan.com.

What Can We Do?

If customers already have a 4G or 5G device, they don’t need to do anything. However, if they’re using a device that doesn’t support 4G or 5G and wish to continue to access data, they should look to upgrade their device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Support made simple – dive into our help articles and guides.

  • What is 3G and what are the benefits of 4G and 5G?

3G (which stands for 3rd Generation) lets customers make and receive calls and texts, and access basic data services to get online. 4G and 5G are faster and more reliable technologies than 3G, giving users a much better mobile experience.

  • Will 2G be switched off too?

Although 2G remains for now, we do plan to switch it off later in the decade. In fact, all UK networks are looking to close both 2G and 3G over the next decade. While 2G remains, you’ll still be able to place calls and send texts over the 2G network if your device doesn’t let you use the 4G/5G network, but not data.

  • Is it just the UK that's impacted?

The switch off isn’t just happening in the UK. 3G networks are being switched off across the world – meaning that if the device doesn’t support 4G or 5G, then they may not be able to make calls or use data roaming while abroad.
